Russian manicure in Matosinhos, Porto

A Russian manicure is a manicure done with an e-file: the cuticle and side walls are cleaned with professional drill bits instead of nippers or scissors. At Noir Privé in Matosinhos it is our main technique — with sterile tools and professional gel polish.

What is a Russian manicure

"Russian manicure" is the common name for an e-file (machine) manicure. Instead of soaking the skin and cutting the cuticle, the manicurist works dry with an electric file and bits of different shapes and grits.

The bits remove only the dead skin around the nail — the cuticle and side walls — without touching living tissue. The result is a clean, even outline, and gel polish can be applied very close to the cuticle. That is why regrowth shows less and the manicure looks neat for longer.

How the appointment goes

  1. Hand hygiene and nail preparation.
  2. Removal of the previous gel polish, if any.
  3. Cuticle and side-wall work with the e-file.
  4. Shaping the length and form of the nails.
  5. Gel polish (Luxio, BANDI) or a bare, polished finish.

All metal tools and bits are sterilised before every client.

Who it suits

  • Anyone who wants a manicure that stays neat for 3–4 weeks.
  • Sensitive skin that reacts badly to cutting — an e-file leaves no cuts.
  • Gel polish wearers who want regrowth to show less.

If you have wounds, inflammation or a suspected fungal infection around the nails, the appointment should be postponed — please see a doctor first.

Russian or combined manicure?

In a combined manicure, the cuticle is worked with the e-file and, where needed, finished with classic tools. A Russian manicure uses the e-file only. Both give a clean result; we choose the technique with you, depending on your skin and nails.

Prices

A manicure with gel polish and removal is €38; without polish, €25. Nail art is charged separately, depending on complexity. See the full price list.

FAQ

Does it hurt? It shouldn't. The bits work on dead skin only; if anything feels uncomfortable, the speed or bit is adjusted.

Does it damage the nails? Not when done properly. The e-file is not used to thin the natural nail — only to clean the skin around it and prepare the surface.

How long does it last? With gel polish, usually 3–4 weeks. After that we recommend a maintenance visit with removal and a new application.

Which languages do you speak? Portuguese, English, Ukrainian and Russian.
